"The best way to predict the future is to create it" - a philosophy that drives everything we do at Taoglas.
Welcome to the latest edition of "O'Shea Insights," my newsletter, to update you on what's happening in Taoglas and the latest innovations shaping connectivity.
It's hard to believe this is the third issue of O'Shea Insights. Whether you're joining me for the first time or following me since issue one, thanks for being part of the journey.
As 2025 approaches, the end of the year provides an excellent opportunity to celebrate Taoglas' 2024 wins and to think about what's coming next in the industry.
Celebrating 2024: A Year of Industry-Firsts for Taoglas!
2024 has been one for the books, thanks to the dedication of the best team in the industry and the support of our partners and customers.
As the year draws to a close, previous readers will know we have much to celebrate, from 20 years in business to launching over 300 new products (a new record) to enhancing our new San Diego R&D facility by installing MVG's largest cutting-edge SG 24 System.
We also launched our new Antenna Integrator tool, the ultimate online resource for design engineers. The Antenna Integrator is the latest tool in our AntennaXpert suite to empower engineers to select the optimal antenna solutions.
And if that wasn't all, we introduced two "industry-first" innovations: the world's first patch-in-a-patch antenna, Inception, and AntJack , a Wi-Fi antenna for an RJ45 Jack, both of which are reshaping the industry.
Now, we're ending the year on a high note, as Inception recently won the prestigious "Excellence in Product Design" award at the Electronics Weekly Elektra Awards. This award, a testament to our engineering team's innovation, is one I dreamed of back in the early days of Taoglas.
Each year, hundreds of companies from all sectors of the global electronics industry attend the Elektra Awards, so we are all incredibly proud of this accomplishment.
These milestones highlight the strength of our collaborations and our commitment to driving the industry forward.
Taoglas GNSS Antennas: Pushing the Boundaries of What’s Possible
Before diving into my predictions for 2025, let me share a story that illustrates how our GNSS antennas are meeting new demands AND making the world a better place.
Recently, our Director of Product Management spotted one of our antennas in the wild (quite literally). While watching the National Geographic documentary Expedition Amazon, his eagle eye noticed a Taoglas CGGP.18.4 GPS patch antenna.
In the documentary, our CGGP.18.4 GPS patch antenna was featured as part of a groundbreaking conservation effort. This compact, durable antenna enabled scientists to track the Arapaima, a fish species once on the brink of extinction. Thanks to this innovative application, the Arapaima population has recovered by over 131% in just three years - an inspiring example of how our technology supports biodiversity.
What are my predictions for 2025?
GNSS technology will continue to evolve and be a cornerstone of modern connectivity, fueled by the ever-growing demand for precise location data. The industry will hit a remarkable milestone by next year, with 8 billion satellite-tracked devices in use, according to the EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA).
This milestone signifies GNSS technology's widespread adoption and integration in various applications such as autonomous vehicles, robotics, UAVs, marine and terrestrial navigation, and high-value asset tracking.
The evolution of GNSS technology, with new satellite signals and expanding frequency bands, has enabled dual-band and multiband receivers to deliver unprecedented accuracy, reliability, and security.
At Taoglas, we are not just witnessing this progress; we are driving it. Our engineers are deeply involved in the European Space Agency's Navigation Innovation and Support Programme (NAVISP), leading to the development of new multiband GNSS antennas that meet the growing demands of emerging applications.
Looking ahead to 2025.
One thing is sure: wireless technologies will continue to grow more complex, and at Taoglas, we're ready to meet these challenges head-on with award-winning solutions and unparalleled expertise.
Let's stay connected! Below, discover more about what's been cooking at Taoglas over the past few weeks.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Engineers
At Taoglas, we know that anything is possible with the right people on board. So, nurturing young engineering talent is a core part of Taoglas, and we regularly bring interns and young graduates onto our team.
Recently, I received a letter from the mother of a high school intern we hosted last year. The letter, which the student included in his college application, highlighted his personal growth and development during his time at Taoglas. It stated that the internship provided him with a 'fresh perspective on Engineering' and that his work with us 'taught him how much he loved design, experimentation, problem-solving, and the presentation phases of engineering.' While working on a unique project with us, he also gained a deeper understanding of the importance of 'organization, teamwork, and communication'.
It was a joy to hear about the intern's positive experience with us and a moment of pride to learn that he was accepted into his top-choice college, a highly competitive one, through early decision. At Taoglas, we are proud to inspire the next generation of engineers, and it always means a lot to hear that we've played a positive role in their journeys. ___________________________________________________________
