Welcome to the latest issue of O’Shea Insights, where I share what’s happening at Taoglas and how innovation keeps us - and you - ahead of the curve.

Innovation at the Heart of Taoglas

Innovation isn’t just a goal - it’s what keeps Taoglas alive. Over the past 20 years, we’ve seen competitors stumble when they stopped innovating. For us, it’s simple: if we’re not pushing boundaries, our customers will find someone who is.

That’s why we don’t just design antennas. We’ve expanded into cables, connectors, integrated enclosures, and so much more. And the most successful products are born not in isolation, but in collaboration.

Fail Fast, Learn Fast

At Taoglas, we’re not afraid to test bold ideas - and to kill the ones that don’t work quickly. This approach frees us to double down on the innovations that truly matter.

Behind these breakthroughs are our engineers, applying creativity to problems that often feel like they defy the laws of physics. They’re finding new ways to pack more frequencies into smaller, tougher, and more efficient designs - whether it’s through advanced simulations, in-house prototyping, or exploring new materials like transparent antennas and Terrablast ceramics.

What I value most about our team is not just their creativity, but their willingness to share their knowledge openly. For example, in one of our recent blogs, our engineers shared practical tips for maximizing PCB design to improve antenna and application performance. Their advice - from considering placement early, to accounting for ground plane size and isolation - reflects the same system-level thinking they bring to every customer project. You can read more about their perspective here.

This is what expertise looks like in action: a combination of bold ideas, technical excellence, and the humility to keep learning and adapting. And it’s why customers trust Taoglas as more than a vendor — but as an engineering partner.

Innovation in Every Layer

Recent highlights show just how wide our innovation spans:

  • Over 60 new products launched so far this year - with more to come before year’s end. I’d love to share some of what’s in the pipeline, but for obvious reasons I can’t just yet. What I can say is we’re nowhere near done - and there are some very exciting announcements still to come.
  • Expanding into new markets: for RV and mobile applications, we’ve launched the LoPro™ RV Combination Antenna - a super-low profile, drop-in replacement that integrates up to eight connections including GNSS, 5G/4G MIMO, Wi-Fi® MIMO, AM/FM, and TV in a compact, rugged IP67 enclosure. At nearly 65% lower in height than traditional RV antennas, LoPro delivers high performance without compromising vehicle aesthetics or installation simplicity.
  • Rugged performance redefined: we’ve also introduced the Storm Series - engineered for the toughest environments. Storm integrates high-performance antennas with space to house next-generation routers and radios, simplifying deployments, cutting installation costs, and ensuring reliable connectivity in mission-critical applications.
Innovation in the Spotlight

Innovation isn’t just something we talk about internally - it’s also being recognized across the industry. I recently had the opportunity to share Taoglas’ perspective on antenna design and connectivity challenges in two interviews:

  • Podcast with Embedded Computing Design - I spoke with Richard Nass about why proper antenna design can make or break your product. We discussed how Taoglas helps customers get to market on time, the first time, every time (yes, I know my team cringes at that tagline, but it’s true!). Listen here.
  • EE Journal Fish Fry with Amelia Dalton - we explored the biggest design and development challenges engineers face today when integrating connectivity into their designs. I shared how Taoglas accelerates IoT time-to-market and the value of our educational resources, like the AntennaXpert suite. Listen here.

Both conversations reinforced a point I’ll keep repeating: innovation isn’t just about products - it’s about knowledge, education, and making sure our customers succeed the first time around.

Innovation in Action - San Diego Lab Tour

Our innovation doesn’t just happen on paper - it comes to life in our labs. Earlier this month, I filmed a walkthrough of our San Diego headquarters to show where the magic happens: from our state-of-the-art anechoic test chamber to rapid prototyping facilities and collaborative engineering spaces.

It’s a behind-the-scenes look at how we test, refine, and accelerate ideas into real-world solutions. If you want to see where Taoglas innovation comes to life, I invite you to take the tour below.

Looking Ahead: The Innovation Revolution

The pace of innovation is only going to accelerate. AI and automation are already reshaping how we design, simulate, and test products - and soon how we manufacture them at scale.

As I said above, that’s why collaboration remains at the center of our approach. By working with customers, partners, universities, and research institutions, we ensure our innovation stays practical, relevant, and always one step ahead.

Innovation also shows up in the everyday places you might not expect. Recently, I was delighted to see HOPE Hydration stations throughout airports like Minneapolis–St. Paul International. These stations let travellers refill with free water (paid for by advertisers), with brand messaging delivered via screens powered by cellular connectivity, IoT - and Taoglas antennas.

Specifically, they use one of our Storm antennas. The Storm is a robust, low-profile, high-performance solution that’s ideal for vending-style machines, which often face harsh installation environments, frequent movement, vandalism risks, and low signal conditions. Choosing the right antenna is critical not only for connectivity but also for the longevity of the machine and the user experience.

It was great to see a line at each of these machines - and even better knowing that Taoglas technology is working reliably behind the scenes.

At Taoglas, we don’t just follow technology trends - we help create them.

Closing Thoughts

Innovation isn’t a department at Taoglas. It’s who we are. Our mission is simple: when you think antennas, cables, or connectivity solutions, you think Taoglas first.

Next time, I’ll share how AI is transforming our design processes and customer experience. Until then, thank you for being part of the journey - and for inspiring us to keep pushing forward.
